Alexandre discovered photography during his youth in São Paulo, where he immortalized urban landscapes with a simple disposable device. His travels then became his real school. After a doctorate in language science and a few years of teaching, he decided to devote himself fully to photography. His research into the emotional staging of television newspapers led to turning away from the pathos to capture the silent beauty of the world. Fascinated by the temporality of the photo, brief to the catch but flexible to the observation, it creates timeless landscapes almost independent of the human presence. Passionate about art, including Land Art and abstract painting, he travels the world to grasp the natural wonders in motion. He is represented by galleries in Switzerland, Luxembourg, Portugal and Brazil, exhibited internationally and has won many professional awards.
Works exhibited
This selection of five photographs around Asia and its atypical landscapes represents the most demanding work of the artist's career. Composed of three landscapes and two abstract works, this ensemble bears witness to a direct confrontation with the elusive. For the scene captured in Vietnam, the image could exist only thanks to the rare and ephemeral conjunction of several light factors, imposing to be in the right place at the right time. As for mountain photographs, they required no less than five successive trips on the ground, the artist having to wait for the exact atmospheric conditions to unfold to compose his image. In contrast, the two abstract works approach nature from the angle of the landscape transformed by the hand of Man. Whether it is the thousands of bamboo pillars or the fences in the snow of Hokkaido, these elements create a graphic rhythm that leaves the spectator in doubt: the environment loses its primary function to become an abstraction
