Silke Schönborn is a photographer living in Germany with a great passion for minimalist architectural and landscape photography. It reduces its photographs to their central elements in order to highlight their uniqueness. Venice — a city between water, silence and traces of time
In his photographic series « FRAGMENTS OF TIME »Silke Schönborn presents Venice from a new angle, far from the usual tourist pictures. She looks at small details often overlooked along the lagoon and canals: old wooden footbridges and piles, fishermen's cabins or a lighthouse at the end of the Lido.
Thanks to the technique of long laying, she captures these elements in a singular way. The moving water is soft and blurred, while wooden structures and other objects seem to float in space. With its clean and minimalist style, it highlights their shapes, textures and peaceful presence.
Far from classic postcard images, his photographs reveal an almost timeless calm. They offer a serene contrast with the lively and effervescent atmosphere of Venice.
« FRAGMENTS OF TIME » is not limited to Venice. The work also evokes the time, transformation and fragility of a place whose beauty is intimately linked to its vulnerability.
These photographs were made during the winter months, between 2023 and 2026.
