The gaze stings at the heart of this bamboo structure that draws a frame with hypnotic regularity. Directed in Fujian Province, southeast China, directly on the west coast of Taiwan Strait. In the centre of this graphic maze, the isolated silhouette of a fishing boat on the return creates a narrative break and offers a scaled landmark. The image blurs the boundaries between the real and the drawing, capturing the moment when the laborious daily life fades away to become pure visual abstraction
